Art work in photography

For the last few days I have struggled to get a decent photo of two pieces of art work. Even though I have a reasonably good camera and a phone camera, I never seem to be able to get a high quality image of my work.  With most art competitions relying on online entries and […]

Successful entry for Carmen

Carmen’s work ‘Patchwork Valley’ was selected as a finalist in the Moreton Bay Region Art Awards – 2017 and her work has been on display at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery. I unfortunately was not successful and my work  ‘Grass along the Esplanade’ is on display in my lounge room until further notice. Cheers, Joanne   […]

Blooming wonderful!

When Carmen and I chose to visit Gladstone on Saturday to view  The 41st Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards 2016 and attend the judge’s floor talk, it proved to be a big day out.  With a phone call from the Gladstone art gallery (while in the Gallery) expressing a desire to have Carmen attend the opening night, […]

Latest news!

After a very successful Art Workshop in July at Cooee Bay, Central Queensland, with tutors Pat Harry and Roy Oorloff, Carmen and I have tried to knuckle down and get some work done. So it was great to find that we have had some success in the 24th Barcaldine Art Festival.  Browsing through their facebook page, checking […]

Paintings that go west!

Paintings sent to competitions and exhibitions don’t always return home. If you are lucky it will be because you have won a prize or sold your work. Always a nice feeling when this happens, but sometimes they don’t return for other less joyful reasons. Last year I had two paintings hung in the Ernest Henry […]

Under the spotlight

With the Opening night behind us we are looking to other art exploits.  The exhibition was a great success with sales and positive comments from our many visitors. The photos from Opening night show the gallery space which was broken into four rooms which worked better than we had anticipated.  We hung the work in groupings that […]

Perceptions of Place an art exhibition

With our exhibition coming up, both Carmen and I are frantically busy. Cyclone Marcia hitting Rockhampton certainly didn’t help with the stress levels, but Carmen was fortunately organized and had her paintings already delivered to Brisbane. Things are moving at a pace now with only days until we are hanging our work. Cheers, Joanne

Promising start for 2015

Carmen has made a flying start to the New Year with her painting ‘Silence in the Landscape’ being selected for The Touring Exhibition of the 2014 Queensland Regional Art Awards, a Flying Arts Alliance Inc initiative. Carmen and I were able to attend the opening at the Judith Wright Centre, Brisbane early this month, where Carmen’s […]

Winning two months!

This is a follow up to a post I did in April this year. I had completed the second half of a dyptich of my Spear Lily in June . You might remember the charcoal collage of the plant above – I have since completed the flower part of the work. Wonderful news, this […]
