Drawn from the Territory!

I have recently had lovely time with collage, watercolours and pencil among other media working up larger more complete drawings from the quick sketches done in the Northern Territory. This drawing is of Ubirr Rock escarpment, looking towards it from the road as you drive into the site. Some of the most amazing rock art … Continue reading

Winning news!

Exciting wins for Carmen and I at the Emerald Art Gallery.  The Central Highlands Regional Art Awards had their opening night on this past Saturday 15th July and the lovely Glenda from the Gallery was kind enough to ring me on Sunday morning with wonderful news. My painting ‘Mt Morgan Dam No 7’ (featured in … Continue reading

Art work in photography

For the last few days I have struggled to get a decent photo of two pieces of art work. Even though I have a reasonably good camera and a phone camera, I never seem to be able to get a high quality image of my work.  With most art competitions relying on online entries and … Continue reading

Latest news!

After a very successful Art Workshop in July at Cooee Bay, Central Queensland, with tutors Pat Harry and Roy Oorloff, Carmen and I have tried to knuckle down and get some work done. So it was great to find that we have had some success in the 24th Barcaldine Art Festival.  Browsing through their facebook page, checking … Continue reading

Fragmented views

A few snap shots of work that Carmen and I are doing at present. We are exploring visual images and memories of our environment and region, and allowing ourselves to respond to the subject matter.  The idea is to pursue these works with a view to an exhibition.  A long way to go, but it is interesting … Continue reading

Under the spotlight

The photos from Opening night show the gallery space which was broken into four rooms which worked better than we had anticipated.  We hung the work in groupings that interspersed our work, rather than Carmen’s work in one room and mine in another.  This seemed to work well and is always surprising where we can find connections of subject, style and media.

The excitement of charcoal!

I have always been a big fan of charcoal and messy though it is, its feel and sound as you drag it across the paper is rewarding. So after attending a drawing workshop with charcoal, I have been doing some works using it with collage. Still obsessed with the Gymea Lily, these drawings explore charcoal … Continue reading

The exhibition runs from 12th to 27th October at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery. So a trip to Pine Rivers is in my calendar to … Continue reading
