October was to be Commended!

A highly commended may not come with a monetary prize but it does mean that the judge has thought your work was worthy of remembering.  So with that thought, Carmen and I were both delighted to receive Highly Commended’s last month.

Carmen’s work Morning at Dry Dam and oil on canvas was given this award at the Brigalow Arts Festival 2017 at the Banana Shire Art Gallery where the competition is still on display until the 10th November 2017.

At the 42nd Martin Hansen Memorial Art Awards 2017 held in Gladstone, I was lucky enough to receive a Highly Commended in the Works on Paper Section for my Suite of Six titled Colours of the Gorge mixed media on paper.   Pat Hoffie, the judge this year, had a massive job to select winners from the huge number of works on display. The awards are on public view until 7th December 2017 if you happen to be in Gladstone.

It was last year at this competition, The Martin Hansen Memorial Art Awards, Gladstone that Carmen received The Christian Thomsen Award in the easel based work section for her painting The Wattle Tree. This beautiful painting, was bought by a Melbourne art lover after featuring on the blog. Good to know someone is reading this and enjoying our work.
